Budgeting 101

Hello Everyone,

I am new to VHMA but not new to the vet industry.  I have a "decent" budget but I would like to improve certain aspects of it and I'm looking for suggestions.  Anyone have an amazing budgeting program they use or do you use what Quickbooks or excel offers?  Also, any good resources forsetting up/working with a budget.  Any information is much appreciated.

At our practice what seems to work well is an excel spreadsheet that is a shared document throughout the hospital...At the beginning of each month I update the amounts budgeted for different areas of the hospital...ie diet, drug/supplies/ office. Then the team members in charge of ordering for those areas see the amount they are working with for the month...
