WEBINAR: Consumer Purchasing Trends for Veterinary Services
Thursday, February 14, 2019
1:00 PM - 2:00 PM EST

The Nationwide | Purdue Veterinary Price Index (VPI) is a benchmark report produced by Nationwide in partnership with economists from the Krannert School of Management at Purdue University. The report represents 27 million pet health insurance treatments filed with Nationwide. It focuses on actual transactions---the final dollar amounts paid by pet-owners. The database presents an accurate picture of veterinary service pricing for specific services, including the most common veterinary services, medical care and preventive and wellness care, within the context of regional and zone-specific pricing.

Dr. McConnell will present the key takeaway trends to foster a clearer understanding of pricing and its application, specifically:

  • The relationship between the Consumer Price Index and Veterinary specific industry pricing.
  • A review of veterinary service pricing across regions and areas defined by population densities.
  • A review of specific periods that yielded exceptionally strong increases in veterinary pricing and the factors contributing to the increases.
The presentation will conclude with a discussion of pricing trends and opportunities to slice the Veterinary Price Index data in smaller buckets in the future to provide additional value to practicing managers and veterinary owners.
