This was the overwhelming response from my entire team when we had a candidate in for a working interview a couple of years ago. Working interviews have been a longtime staple of the hiring process at my hospital, along with traditional interviews, reference checks and formal skills assessment sessions. Although it can be a surprise when candidates go awry in a working interview, we look for different aptitudes and characteristics at each stage of the interview process

All practices conduct interviews of one kind or another, but some practices use additional kinds of tools and resources in assessing the quality of candidates
The exit interview is a valuable tool both diagnostically and strategically
Once that has been done, the pay scale and the appropriate interview questions can be determined

What training have these individuals had in effective interviewing and hiring skills and in the laws governing hiring and the hiring process? Does the practice have a standardized, effective, and legal process in place to help with the job application/resume review, interview and selection process? Do the questions asked during the interview process specifically identify skills the hospital needs from those it hires?
