In November, the VHMA surveyed practice managers to determine whether employers, managers and supervisors survey employees when they leave their jobs. Of the 275 individuals who responded to the Insider’s Insight survey, 63% said that they conduct exit interviews and 37% revealed that they do not. Seventy-seven percent of those who interview departing employees report that they survey all employees, regardless of tenure or position. Twelve percent survey long-term employees, although respondents did not define “long-term.”
The newly-released 2015 VHMA Compensation and Benefits Survey indicates that in general, managers’ and administrators’ salaries have increased over the previous two years. Furthermore, factors such as education and certification can help to raise salaries even more. At the team meeting, Champions should also distribute a team survey to gauge how team members perceive preventive pet healthcare in the practice. Champion can either use or adapt the team survey that is found on page 26. Include clear instructions about when and where to return the survey. And, as any Miss Manners follower knows, follow-up with meeting participants and thank them for their participation. Be sure to outline the issues that were addressed and remind the team to complete the survey. For suggested email content, go to page 25. Once the surveys have been returned, tabulate the responses using the form on page 30
