Mentor Match Responsibilities & Expectations

Program Participation

Participation in the VHMA Mentor Match Program is voluntary and intended to support professional connection and development within the veterinary management community. While VHMA facilitates mentor matches, the success of the relationship depends on the commitment, communication, and engagement of both participants.

Participants are encouraged to contact VHMA staff if questions or concerns arise during the mentoring experience.

Disclaimer

The success of the mentoring relationship depends on consistent communication and mutual engagement from both the mentor and mentee. Participants are expected to respond to messages in a timely manner, ideally within 5–7 business days, and to communicate proactively if scheduling or availability changes.

We understand that professional and personal responsibilities may occasionally impact participation. If a mentor or mentee is unable to continue the commitment or becomes unresponsive, participants are encouraged to notify their mentoring partner and VHMA staff as soon as possible.

VHMA reserves the right to conclude or reassign mentoring matches when communication or participation expectations are not met, to support a positive experience for all participants.
